Exfoliating can feel like hitting the reset button on your skin, goodbye dullness, hello instantly smooth glow. But if you’ve got sensitive skin like me, you probably know it can also go very wrong, very fast. (Been there, don’t recommend). The good news? You absolutely can exfoliate safely. You just need the right approach and the right gentle-but-effective product.

Gentle > Harsh
My sensitive skin loves to overreact… instantly. Overdo it and suddenly you’re red, flaky and reaching for your moisturiser like it’s life support. My number one rule? Keep it simple. Exfoliating 1–3 times a week is plenty, I promise. Overdo it and your poor skin barrier pays the price.
Pick the Right Exfoliant
I’ve learned the hard way that not all exfoliants are created equal. Here’s what to look for:
• Mild physical exfoliants - superfine texture to gently buff away dull skin without scratching.
• Gentle enzymatic exfoliation - fruit extracts (papaya, pineapple, mango) to help smooth and renew skin naturally.
• Soothing, nourishing ingredients - aloe vera, vitamin E, jojoba and sunflower oils keep skin calm, hydrated, and happy.
My personal fave? The Senne Revitalising Exfoliating Scrub. It gives me fresh, glowing skin without compromising my barrier (my love language).

How I Exfoliate (Without Upsetting My Skin)
1. Start clean – I always cleanse first to remove makeup, sunscreen and the day. I love using the Gentle Cream Cleanser for this step—it’s soothing, non-stripping, and perfect for sensitive skin.
2. Be gentle – Use light, circular motions. Think of it as a relaxing facial massage. For exfoliation, I reach for the Revitalising Exfoliating Scrub. It buffs away dullness without upsetting my skin.
3. Rinse with lukewarm water – Hot water = unnecessary drama (and we don’t do that here). Lukewarm water keeps skin happy and calm.
4. Hydrate after – A good moisturiser seals the deal and keeps my skin barrier happy. I swear by the Hydrating Moisturiser. It’s the MVP for soft, plump skin.
Watch for Red Flags
If I ever notice redness, tightness, peeling or surprise breakouts, I take it as my sign to back off. (Sensitive skin loves to send us dramatic red flags). When that happens, I pause exfoliating for a bit, hydrate like crazy, chill out and try again next week.

The Takeaway
Exfoliation isn’t about scrubbing harder, it’s about being smart, gentle and consistent. With the right technique and the right product, even the most reactive, easily-annoyed skin (hi, that’s mine) can exfoliate safely and glow.
